“ We found this restaurant on our way to Evergreen lake. The high rating of the restaurant caught our attention. Upon arrival, it was pretty empty, we got a table right away. It’s a nice wooden shack style restaurant, right by a small creek. Such amazing spot to enjoy breakfast/brunch close to nature. They have a bar as well. All staff are very friendly and helpful. We all ordered different items from the breakfast. Everyone loved their dishes. I was impressed with my corned beef egg Benedict. It was a unique dish, as they serve it with piece of hashbrowns underneath. Eggs were cooked so nicely, yolks drip over once you poke them. I got a non-alcoholic drink as well, that was very well made. Overall we had a wonderful dining experience before heading up to the mountains. Special mention of the pancakes they make. They are so fluffy and soft, one of the best ones I have ever had. Must try. ”
“ Great food after a hike in Corwina-O'Fallon Park. The Poblano Turkey melt and Reuben were delicious! Excellent service while sitting outside near the river. ”
“ Service was top-notch with an attentive server, and the interior definitely adds to the experience! Very elegant interior with plenty of seating (booths and tables), a 10-seat bar, and views of the Fallon creek right behind the building. Breakfast food was superb for our party of 3, and left everyone full! Highly recommend the salmon avocado toast and the homemade biscuits. Definitely come here for breakfast, brunch or lunch if you ever find yourself nearby! ”
“ We visited and absolutely loved the cozy atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly and provided excellent suggestions for our order. We tried the biscuits and gravy, French toast, and salmon toast, and everything was delicious. We would definitely return for another delightful meal! ”
“ There were five in our party, it was a Monday, and we arrived around 2:00 for a late lunch. It wasn't busy at that time of day but there were still plenty of diners at this popular place. I had heard it was very good for breakfasts, and our lunches did not disappoint either. The Zeuben (zucchini Reuben on marble rye) I ordered was delicious, with sweet potato fries on the side. The others had green chili bison burger, prime rib sandwich, a Reuben on gluten-free brioche, and a salmon salad, and everyone raved. The service was also good, friendly and attentive. Having lived in the area since 1972 we had eaten in this place decades ago when it was the Bear Creek Inn. The view of creek and woods out the wall of windows is as beautiful as it always was, it's a great mountain ambience and nice to be back.. ”
“ Eggs Benedict absolutely delicious!! Hollandaise sauce to die for!! Get extra! Smothered breakfast burrito was the bomb!! Spicy and yummy! ”
“ I’ve driven through Kittredge countless times, passing by Blackbird Cafe without ever stopping—until now. When we were looking for a convenient brunch spot between Denver, Lakewood, and Evergreen, we finally decided to give it a try. Any excuse to head up to the mountains is one we’ll gladly take! Visiting on a weekday meant a more relaxed atmosphere, though I can easily imagine this cozy spot buzzing with activity on weekends. The cafe exudes a charming, rustic cabin feel, and its prime location along Bear Creek offers picturesque views for those lucky enough to snag a table by the window. Despite arriving as a large group without reservations, the staff quickly arranged tables for us, and we were seated in no time. Their warm hospitality set the tone, with coffee and drinks arriving swiftly as we took our time exploring the menu. There was even a cute little play area for restless kids. It was fun to see such a variety of dishes land on our table—everyone ordered something different, and each plate was as tempting as the next. The French Toast with fresh strawberries (and real maple syrup), the Chorizo Nido, and the Green Chili Smothered Burrito were particular standouts, though every bite was delicious. Now that I’ve discovered this hidden gem, I have no doubt we’ll be back soon for another leisurely brunch in the mountains. ”
“ Great brunch in a cozy cabin alongside the creek. Huge breakfast burrito. Pretty busy during peak times. I don't know if I'd say it's worth the drive from Denver, Lakewood, etc., but it's one of like 2 restaurants in Kittredge, and the food is as good as any around. The coffee situation could be better. 3/4 mug of good coffee, and then the refill was a bit watery and burnt, with a bit of a wait in between. Service was extremely friendly though. Maybe they were just understaffed. ”
